PK Is Green Right Now
WABC-TV New York's Green Right Now site featured PK in its list of the best places for green back to school. Author Barbara Kessler very kindly pointed out that PK's prices were in a number of cases lower than those of some of the Big Box stores. Thank you, Barbara. We work hard to keep our prices competitive.
PK Gets a Little Banged Around
Threadbanger, the awesome diy site for sewish folks, featured PK in one of its green back to school video webisodes. Viewers got to see how to make their own pencil cases and notebooks. But to those who wanted to buy ready made eco stuff, host Corinne commanded, over images of our site and the composition notebook, "Go to progressivekid.com for a great selection of notebooks and binders." Thanks, Corinne. It was sew nice of you!
National Geographic Green Guide Recommends PK "for a Little Bit of Everything"
The National Geographic Green Guide just issued its "Eco Checklist 2008: Green Gear for the Back-to-School Blues." David Wortman wrapped up his review with a nod to PK: "And for a little bit of everything, visit Progressive Kid—they carry environmentally friendly clothing, backpacks, binders, games, and more, and maintain an educational site called Kids' Rock to teach children about the importance of sustainability."

Kitsap Sun Shines on PK
In an article on Kitsap County schools and their efforts to be green, Annie Martin made reference to PK's eco-friendly school supplies: "In addition to offering recycled notebook paper and composition books, the site sells lead-free lunch bags and backpacks made from recycled materials." We were honored to be included among discussion of teacher AnnGiantvalley's environmental work in the classroom and of North Mason School District's planet-friendly changes.
RiverWired Likes Our Backpacks
Susan Seliger, Editor of RiverWired recommended our Osprey backpack for back to school kids and back to work adults. She writes, "Tired of that heavy old backpack? PK in the Plenty Magazine Daily Green Bit
Plenty Magazine's article "Green nontoxic lunch boxes: o bento!" recommended PK's sandwich boxes and "PVC- and phthalate-free soft insulated fabric lunch boxes and packs." The article also provides some key info. for readers: "The landmark bill passed by Congress last week to ban brain-damaging lead and hormone-disrupting phthalates in children's toys does not, alas, include the category of lunch boxes, which are often made of PVC vinyl that's softened with phthalates and stiffened with lead, according to Greenpeace." That's Plenty for readers to munch on!
SF Chronicle Says PK's Less Is More
The July 6 issue of the San Francisco Chronicle featured an article on "Throwing Less-Is-More Birthday Parties" that quoted PK Co-Founder Sarah and touted our ethical party favor bags and green party tips: "There is nothing more bacchanalian than a kid's birthday party," said Sarah Lane, a founder of Washington state's Progressive Kid, which has a Web site with suggestions on how to raise kids with good values. "You should see what gets thrown away. It's disgusting."
GenGreen Honors PK for Environmental Stewardship
GenGreen is a fantastic green social networking site. And GenGreen apparently has great taste too, as it selected named PK a New Green Leader in recognition of our "outstanding efforts in green business practice" and for our "promotion of sustainable living through [our] products and [our] contribution to community and green efforts." Thanks, GenGreen!
PK Cleans Up
Green and Clean Mom was smart to notice that PK makes eco-friendly party favors that are just the thing for your kid's Green Birthday Party. She writes, "they have party boxes that are recyclable and teach an environmental lesson. If your party has a wilderness theme, takes place at a park, pond, camp ground, beach or even a pool...the party boxes are sure to be a perfect fit." We thank her for the plug! And we want to point out that we offer a bunch of great green party ideas too.
PK Goes Purple (and Stays Green)
The Purple Book made PK an official selection in its newly released Purple Green Guide, available now in bookstores. The Purple Book calls itself the "definitive guide to exceptional online shopping," and it's new green edition features the best eco-friendly online shopping businesses. We're so pleased, we're blushing purple!
PK Is Just Ducky
PK was listed in Terri Hall-Jackson's article "Safe Bath Time Fun" on the Care2 Greenliving blog as a source of eco-friendly bathtime fun. Hall-Jackson examines the problems with traditional bath toys, especially the presence of phthalates. It's a good article and even includes green ways to clean bath goo off bath toys.

Green Moms Find Us
Online site Green Mom Finds stumbled upon our Love Peace T and proclaimed their love. The poor reviewing Mom wrote, "With a high-energy toddler to chase after, I often feel like peace is the last thing I’ll ever have in my house. Peace on earth may actually come sooner." We hope peace comes to earth and to her! Thanks, Green Moms!

We Get a Kick out of Kiwi!
Kiwi Magazine gave a shout to PK by featuring our new book A Hot Planet Needs Cool Kids and our recycled fleece St. Helen's hat in its December "Ultimate Green Holiday Gift Guide." The Gift Guide comes with a key to greenness. A product is keyed as educational, sustainable, fair trade, promoting fitness, charitable, handmade, recycled, safe/nontoxic, and/or organic. One thing Kiwi forgot to mention is that not only is Hot Planet educational; it's also recycled and fair trade. But we like the attention regardless. And we like the magazine (it's got substance)!
Working Mothers Take Note
The November green issue of Working Mother featured Oros, our organic cotton baby mountain goat, our squeezable organic bunny, and everyone's favorite Hugg-a-Planet. The two spreads were pretty cute, and we send kudos to Working Mother for putting together an entire issue devoted to green parenting.

PK Is Ecofabulous
Ecofabulous in its Back to School in Eco-Fabulous Style feature higlighted PK: "This fall check out Progressive Kids tee-shirts, screen-printed with water and vegetable-based dyes on Skal-certified organic cotton. We especially like the one that has an image of the Earth and reads 'mine (don't mess).'" We think you're fabulous too Ecofabulous, and thanks fornoticing Kids' Rock: "If your child is feeling as inspired by this gear as we are, they can log on to Kid's Rock and get involved with other Progressive Kids."

PK Is an Organic Pick
CindyW, one of the co-founders of organicpicks.com, a new organic product ratings and information site, featured us on the organicpicks blog. She was pleased to have found PK as a source for baby shower gifts that are "more interesting alternatives" and longer lasting (because babies grow out of some things so quickly) than traditional shower gifts. (Just so you know, she picked growth charts and surfer dudes to give her latest expecting friend.) CindyW also suggested that we add a Gift Ideas section to our site. Consider it done: Look on our What's New page for a list of ideas for different occasions. CindyW praised our order turnaround rate, our minimalist and eco-friendly packaging, and our party boxes. Thanks for the nod, Cindy, and right back at you!

Changing the World
On November 29, UrbanBaby Daily encouraged its large database of readers to make a world of difference by shopping at PK. The editors noticed that PK's "carefully edited selection makes it easy to support a pro-Earth agenda." We agree, and that's why we did it. We're glad they noticed!
In the Room with Elephant
The Autumn isssue of Elephant, the supercool enlightened magazine from Boulder, featured PK in its Ecofashion spread. The little model was wearing our Families Come in All Colors, Shapes, and Sizes long-sleeve toddler T in green.
Vive PK!
Modenfantine, a tres chic kids' fashion site from France, featured us on their home page in September. Among other things, they said, "Our kids will save the planet and we'll show them how as of today with these 100% bio T-shirts, with strong messages and a very art-design look." They singled out our Reading Is Radical, Art Helps U2C, and 100% Organic Baby designs. Pay modenfantine a visit and say, "Allo" from us.

The Bainbridge Review, our very own hometown paper, featured ProgressiveKid in its business section in June in an article titled "Looking Out for the Future of Kids."

Blogging Baby (now known as Parentdish) is a vibrant blog run by several women on everything related to babies and kids and raising them. They blogged us in May.
Buzzing About PK
Our first press appearance, in 2005, was on one of our favorite sites, Bainbridge Buzz, now defunct (R.I.P.), which covered local Island news and larger issues affecting families.
